Why DNS exists

Introductory references: RFC 1034 and RFC 1035.

DNS maps names to distributed data. It is not one central address book, and it does not prove that a website is safe.

Try it

Follow the training name www.training.test.. Identify its labels and the requested record type. Then ask which component may already know the answer and which one needs to look it up.

For real cases, separate the requested data, the source that publishes it, and the component answering the query. Record assumptions instead of treating an observed answer as proof of its cause.
